  • Individual Membership & Group Affiliation

The Christian Universalist Association encourages both individuals and congregations to join our organization. Individuals may join with an individual membership, meaning that they personally agree with our beliefs and wish to show their support for the CUA. There are three types of membership for individuals:

    • Basic Membership means that you want to identify yourself spiritually with Christian Universalism and be part of the worldwide CUA community. The only requirements are that you send us your postal mailing address and that you pledge that you do not endorse any form of hatred based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. No financial donation is required. You will be subscribed to the CUA email list to receive important announcements, and we will send you a free trial of our printed newsletter if you wish. Fill out the membership form below to join.
    • Supporting Membership is like Basic Membership, but Supporting Members donate at least $25 per year to the CUA. You will receive a complementary subscription to our bimonthly printed newsletter, The Christian Universalist Connection.
    • Sustaining Membership is like Supporting Membership, but Sustaining Members donate at least $250 per year or $25 per month to the CUA. In addition to our newsletter, you will also be entitled to receive your choice of one book, CD or DVD per month from our online stores (coming soon).

Churches and other regularly meeting spiritual communities may affilate with the CUA in one of three different relationships:

    • Supporting Church status is for any kind of church or meeting group that wishes to express support for the CUA, but is not interested in having a close relationship with our organization. Supporting Churches will receive the CUA newsletter free for one year. Financial contributions are optional for the first year of affiliation, and after that, we encourage Supporting Churches to donate $35 annually to continue receiving our newsletter. Supporting Churches do not vote in CUA elections.
    • Associate Church status is for independent, non-denominational churches and cell churches that wish to be in a close relationship with the CUA. Associate Churches must provide significant annual donations (based on size of congregation) and will receive regular supplies of literature and materials from the CUA. Associate Churches will be eligible to appoint electors to attend CUA Annual Conferences and vote for our Board of Directors.
    • Dual-Affiliate Church status is similar to the relationship for Associate Churches, but this is for churches that belong to a denomination. The financial commitment is half as much as Associate Churches of the same size are asked to provide, and Dual-Affiliate Churches will be eligible to appoint half as many electors to vote at CUA Annual Conferences.

All affiliated churches and meeting groups must pledge that they do not endorse any form of hatred based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. Associate and Dual-Affiliate Churches must affirm the CUA Statement of Faith (this may be in addition to their own statement of faith). In the case of Supporting Churches, only the leader of the congregation must affirm it. All affiliated churches and meeting groups will be listed in the CUA's online directory of churches and ministries, and may provide detailed information to have their own page on our website if they wish (e.g. if they have no website of their own). If they have a website, they are required to link to the CUA.

Non-church ministries (such as for teaching, evangelism, healing or charitable work) may affiliate with the CUA as a Supporting Ministry. In the case of an incorporated or group ministry organization, this is for a similar purpose as Supporting Church status. If the ministry is only one person, then it is similar to individual Basic Membership except that it signifies that the member is in some form of active ministry. Supporting Ministries are not required to donate any money to the CUA, and will not receive our newsletter unless they choose to make a voluntary donation. All Supporting Ministries must link to the CUA on their website if they have one.

We would be happy to answer any questions you may have and tell you what you need to do next. The first step is simply for the minister/leader to submit this form like any other individual.
